Whole and Half Pig Purchasing Information
Why Buy a Whole or Half Pig?
At Integral Acres we want to connect people to their food. There is satisfaction in knowing that all the pork in your freezer came from one animal, raised on a local farm in a natural environment. You will fill out a custom cut sheet that will allow you to utilize the animal exactly how you want and expand your culinary knowledge. It is connection to your food that you can not find in the grocery store.
How We Raise Our Pigs
We raise heritage breed pigs from the time they are eight weeks old until they reach just over 300lbs. We purchase our piglets from other small farms where nursing is monitored, and they are weaned from their mother at an appropriate age. Once on our farm, they are brought to their first woodlot paddock. They are moved every week or two to fresh land to forage and root, exactly what they want to do.

Our forest is filled with large oak, hickory and black walnut trees that provide plenty of nuts and acorns to supplement their diet. The majority of their diet is 100% organic fermented grain with effort to source within NYS.
Pigs can not sweat, so the shade provided by the forest along with wallows created by rainwater or a good ol’ garden hose keep the pigs cool. Reducing stress in our herd is a top priority.

How Much Meat Will I Get?
A half pig will yield 75-85 lbs of meat, plus bones, fat and other odd-bits if desired. We recommend 4 cubic feet of freezer space for this amount of meat.
Pricing
The final amount that you will pay the farmer is $3.00/lb live weight. The live weight and hanging weight will be measured by the processor. The hanging weight is the weight of the carcus after the head, hair, blood and organs have been removed. It is roughly 70% of live weight.
The initial deposit that we request is $250 for a half pig and $500 for a whole pig. This amount is deducted from what you will pay for final live weight at the time of processing.
Processing cost is determined by hanging weight and how you decide to fill out the cut sheet.
After the initial deposit and final payment are made to the farmer and processing fees are paid to the processor the price per lb that you will pay will be around $8.00/lb for the final cuts. You can expect this to vary +/- $0.50/lb based on how much smoked and seasoned product you request on your cut sheet.

Can I Buy Individual Cuts?
Due to state regulations, we can only sell half and whole pigs when working with a custom processor, however we are exploring the possibility of using a USDA processor to be able to sell retail cuts. These will be available at the same time frame as half/whole pigs.
